Four series and more under the Atrament Universe, plus fiction outside it, nonfiction, and a live newsletter. Here's where everything stands.

The Atrament Universe

A shared fictional world where ink carries consequence and what is written cannot always be unwritten. Four series operate within it — each its own thing, all connected by the deep geology of the same universe. Read the Origin to understand the foundation: Part One, Part Two, Part Three.

Ellis E. Pinkerton
Author · Founder, Inky Compass Press

Ellis E. Pinkerton writes dark fiction from the road — literally. A long-haul OTR trucker by trade and a writer by compulsion, Ellis operates Inky Compass Haulage during the day and Inky Compass Press on the page.

The road shaped the work. Long hauls through Appalachia, across the rust belt, through the hollow stretches where small towns used to be — these are the landscapes that show up in the fiction. Not as backdrop, but as character. The hills in Rail-Rooted Rust remember. The tracks go somewhere you didn't plan to end up. The dark out there isn't metaphor.

The work is shaped by what the road shows you — the in-between places, the towns that got left behind, the long quiet stretches where you have nothing but time and whatever your mind does with it. Ellis writes fiction that takes those places seriously, and what inhabits them.

Follow the work.

New releases, universe updates, and the occasional dispatch from the road. No noise. Just signal — when there's something worth saying.
